It’s a fact that your everyday activities may be putting you at risk for irreversible noise-induced hearing loss. To protect your hearing, become aware of the noise levels that can promote hearing loss and take steps to either avoid or eliminate them.

You are working around hazardous noise levels if :

  • You need to raise your voice to speak with someone who is an arm’s length away.
  • Your ears ring or if sounds seem dull after leaving a noisy place.
  • Wear hearing protection such as earmuffs or plugs when exposed to above 80 decibels of noise regularly – that’s equivalent to the sound of a gunshot or a typical rock concert.
  • If you notice ringing in your ears, feel dizzy or have trouble hearing others speak, book a hearing test and notify your supervisor.
